Our Church Origin
"Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it." Psalm 127:1
We believe wholeheartedly that although many churches exist, only those churches that answer God's call and are actually doing His work are blessed. It has been our most fervent prayer that our church would be pleasing in His sight.
Calvary Full Gospel Church began on January 12th, 1992. At that time, we were meeting at Streams Elementary School in Upper St. Clair. With an original membership of seventy, we began to build our spiritual foundations.
From the beginning, we were convinced that God had a special plan for our congregation and that His blessings would be upon us if we put our trust in Him. Our goals were four-fold:
- That the sole purpose of our church would be to glorify our Lord, Jesus, to spread the Gospel boldly, and to bring spiritual maturity to our Body.
- That we would always remain humble before our Lord, never glorifying in our flesh or accomplishments.
- That we would never forget that our priority in life should be to see others saved and brought into the Kingdom of God.
- That we would have opportunity to purchase land and one day build a church that would glorify God and help us to accomplish our ministry goals.
On July 24th, 1991, we received a wonderful gift of 35 acres of land from the Hickman family of Bridgeville. This not only met our need, but enabled this family to fulfill a dream of seeing a "church on the hill" in South Fayette Township.
We began construction of our new church in April 1992, and dedicated our building, our work, and ourselves to the Lord on January 16th, 1994.
Since then, we have seen God do wonderful works of changing lives and leading many to salvation from the surrounding communities. The Lord has added to our membership and called us into many new ministry opportunities to spread the "Good News."
We will be forever grateful to Jesus Christ for the abundant blessings that He has chosen to shower upon us. We intend to love and serve Him completely until He returns for us.
Praise the Lord!
